Diagnosis Options:
Diagnosing MS can be difficult as the symptoms of the disease are shared among a large number of other diseases. They also are similar to issues that people can naturally experience as they age. If you or someone you know suspects they may have MS, especially if they share risk factors like having a relative with MS, it is wise to speak to a doctor. Diagnosing MS is done with a series of tests and exams which can commonly include: MRI to check for lesions on the central nervous system, cerebral spinal fluid analysis to look for oligoclonal bands, Evoked Potential test to check nervous system response time.

Tips for Caregivers:
MS can lead a person to feel hopeless. Share encouragement. MS is chronic but not terminal with many MS sufferers leading productive lives into their 80’s. Stay positive.
